früjch me baby one last time

The last poster I did for früjch. Feeling the definition of bittersweet. Always thought it was a sappy word, but am feeling it now…Sappy me.
This poster began as wanting to do something colourful to cap off the final day of früjch and being visually-loud enough….

Ah yes, the title “Früjch Me Baby One Last Time” [...]

SCANNED: Face Your Pockets

Gum wrappers, shillings, a crumpled piece of tissue – Are the things in your pockets cool or ew?
Over at Face Your Pockets, anything goes. They just want to see what is in it. Weapon of choice? The scanner.
So dig up all that hidden junk, lay it bare, stick your face amongst it and press that [...]

a red bus

Having fun with our newly-discovered colour accent function. Canon, you rock.

A confession: Poor Jonny got so sick walking back and forth and back and forth. Haha. Somehow I suspect I’m never going to get a DSLR, too many functions. The boy does want one though, so… good luck to him.
Think we’ll be taking a crash course [...]

M&Ms of Jargon #4: SIGNATURES

Learnt about this sometime last week when Aliyah (the senior designer at qube) was talking to me about the publishing process of John O’Sullivan’s anthology.
Aliyah: “Maybe we could play around with different paper stock for the signatures……”

Inner me: (Isn’t signature that name you sign on a contract with a grand flourish to look happening and rich….)

Things that remind you you’re in a design agency…

…..when your colleague can’t find an envelope the size she wants, she simply makes one…in 5 minutes flat.

(Also end-result is suspiciously professional-looking. Nothing like the  slapadap messy sticky sort I make when I’m desperate at home, but reluctant to step out to buy an envelope because that would mean sweltering in the [...]

The Silly Goose

Fell in love with The Silly Goose at concierge’s exhibition of quirky knickknacks and lifestyle items during Singapore Design Festival 2007.
I seem to have an affinity with hanged (hung?) geese.  Will explain later.
It costs S$17.00 . That is a tad pricey for a bookmark, but hey, the visual satisfaction totally makes it worth it!
There are other designs (see above [...]

Mark Ryden: childhood.macabre.genius

You know, I forgot how much I love Mark Ryden’s work and the creeps they give me, till last week when I was working on one of the layouts for John O’Sullivan’s poems (this poem anthology they’re actually letting me put together at Qube).
His paintings have such much detail and are so vividly-realistic, you’ll want [...]

Furniture Design Award & FL!P Singapore

I was at the National Museum yesterday, finishing up my community service (O Singapore, how I serve thee) and the Furniture Design Award (FDA) showcase was going on.
The theme for FDA 2008 was “TENSION” , while for FLIP Challenge it was “EcletiCity- where participants had to mix & match two different types of wood(red oak & poplar).
To [...]
